Before you continue reading this blog, I want to say that this mystery is the most terrifying and unnerving mystery I have wrote about so far. The images below may be deeply disturbing to some, especially those who practice religion, so here is a warning beforehand.

INTRODUCTION

-----------------------

Video game culture has dominated the American media in recent years. Recent fanatical games such as Among Us takes everyone by storm before they move on to play the next big trend. But certain video games ought to stay away from the public’s eye, and for a very good reason. Sad Satan is a reportedly terrifying game found in the Dark Web. Its contents are rumored to be nearly demonic and horrifying in nature, making it a must-have investigation for thrill-seekers. Even then however, people with the strongest stomachs refuse to take a chance with this beast of a game.

OCCURRENCE

---------------------

The video gaming community was taken aback when on June 25th, 2015, a YouTube channel named Obscure Horror Corner posted this video of a game. The game, Sad Satan, consists of an unknown character walking around an endless maze of hallways and paths. Flickering lights, changing patterns and colors, audio cues, and other visual or aural instances make the experience creepy and unsettling for most. This version of the game is purportedly the “clean” version of the true madness the game is meant to be.

The channel was interviewed by Kotaku, a famous video gaming blog. The owner of the YouTube channel claimed that they downloaded the game using Tor, a software that enables users to access mediums such as the Deep and Dark Web. Apparently, an anonymous subscriber to the channel recommended the game to the owner, and they obliged in downloading and playing it. The game link was found on a Dark Web forum from a user only known as ZK. Some subscribers initially feared the game as they speculated it may contain images of extreme gore or child pornography, but the channel declined that this was the case.

A subreddit was later created for users to discuss the game, but users quickly realized that the link to the game provided by the channel was invalid. The channel spoke out and said this was intentional as the game actually did contain graphic material, and they did not want to be responsible for spreading that information out. In response, someone claiming to be ZK posted another version of the game on 4chan, stating that this game was the official one, not the watered down version shown by the YouTube channel. This version of the game caused computer problems for many who attempted to play it. Many stated that their computers became sluggish or simply stopped working. The people who did play this version of the game did discover that it included violent images of child pornography and gore. The audio of the game reportedly consisted of mumbling and screaming - the screaming theorized to be real child abuse victims. Other audio in the game consisted of various songs played in reverse. Satanic pictures also littered the game. Other images reportedly in the game include accident and murder victims, Japanese cannibal and child rapist Tsutomu Miyazaki, and several political figures.

Below are some screenshots from the game.

THEORIES

---------------

Theories are small here. Firstly, some suspected that the YouTube channel posted this video as a way to gain subscribers. However, Sad Satan was the last set of videos the channel has posted in over 5 years. Furthermore, no other real evidence exists to back this claim up.

Also, it has been noted that it is very unlikely that the YouTube channel told the whole truth on the game. The channel stated that they provided the fake link to prevent people from spreading malicious material, but if that were the case, many asked why the channel would even share the game on their platform in the first place. Additionally, why even try and provide a link to the game, even if it was fake? These questions make people suspect that the game could be a hoax.

One of the most plausible theories is that the channel did create the game, but made up the story about finding it on the Dark Web by ZK. Then, another user posted a Sad Satan game filled with malicious content on their own. This theory is heavily supported by the community, but there is no evidence to back this up.

Nevertheless, one thing is clear: this game is fucking terrifying, and I highly recommend to my readers that you DO NOT try and attempt to find, download, and play this game. If you do, well, that is your responsibility to handle.
